11 01 2025: The Dia de Muertos Parade

Finally, the parade. But told in a different way than you'll find elsewhere.

What should I do? Tourist photos, even when taken by a documentary photographer? If you think about it, many photographers take the same photos everyone else takes with a cell phone. Even the teenager with a smartphone or the grandmother with a phone.

What I want to show, also with a view to next year with my expedition to this city, is that even the official Dia de Muertos parade can be an opportunity to tell something else. So, yesterday I changed lenses and I used the 16mm on my sony and the 28mm on the Canon 5D.

I start the selection with 2 photos of the only ofrenda I decided to photograph: the one dedicated to Palestinian people in Gaza. This year I think is the right think to do, considering the genocide in act made by Israel. That is. Even with the main topic of dia de muertos, photography to me is a political act, a resistance act against the evil in this world.
