2011-2021: That street photo in Los Angeles

Exactly 10 years ago I was working in Los Angeles, an extraordinarily important experience in my career as a photographer

Corona Lady - Los Angeles, California, 2011

One afternoon I found myself on Broadway Street, an avenue full of sellers of gold and silver, where I could feel like in Mexico. And it was with that particular state of mind that I suddenly seewhat was happening in front of me: this lady in a red hat, carrying a case of Corona Extra beers. The light was fantastic, I overexposed in order to have deep shadows, remarking the graphism of the scene. There is beautiness in this picture and there are the urban signs and the mistery of a man walking behind that you can just guess, contributing to a tension.

This is Street Photography to me.

In 2011 I was not experienced like today and despite this I achieved to make a good work in Los Angeles, California during my three week stay. I learned a lot about myself and what I could make with photography and when back to Mexico I was totally inspired and full of ideas and energy.

To see again this photograph makes me think about the enthusiasm that I always owned and never lost. It speaks to me. And I just wanted to share it with you, readers of this blog.
