A small guide to Street Photography PT. 11
A fundamental part in the training of a photographer is given by the cultural background…
…and the visual culture for a photographer is powered by the vision and knowledge of the work of other photographers. I am sorry but when I meet a photographer arguing not to know Garry Winogrand or Lee Friedlander, well I don’t have a good idea of that dude…if you don’t know the history of photography…if you don’t know that a certain photograph has been realized in the 60s, how you pretend to say that a photo is good or bad? You don’t have the basics of a visual knowledge and you have a big handicap also for your photography.
For this reason a chapter of my small guide to Street Photography is dedicated to my recommendation of books to purchase.
Please note: the list is huge and some books reached impossible prices. The list is a selection made with fundamental books in my opinion, some historical editions and some personal recommendations. From a street photographer to other street photographers.
