A sustainable Street Photography
There is no real professional street photographer. We can also make some money from street photography, but then there has to be more.
Should I call myself a professional street photographer just because here in Mexico they come to take the workshop with me from all over the world? Or why do I sell books with my street photography? Ehm, I don’t think so.
I state that I do not see anything wrong if the main source of input comes from workshops or it could also be the only source of input as far as I'm concerned but today a photographer cannot be just one thing. An indispensable resource is to be flexible and always ready to update, to then be able to offer a range of different services.
Being able to afford to be a street photographer every day is really an excellent goal and I am proof that it can be done. Accepting the ups and downs. Also understanding that immense results can be obtained from pragmatism. And then you can understand that it is not about groping, but rather it is planning without being rigid, understanding that it is time to change something, perhaps, or to stay in a certain state for a while.
I can accept the fact I am a professional street photographer if I include to be a photographer, a blogger, a photo editor, a traveller, a publisher, an educator. And to be all this and even something more, I must always study, question myself, open myself to new challenges.
Having reached a certain maturity, I understand that there are will-o'-the-wisps. I can see them all the time in this business. People who live their 15 minutes of fame and then disappear. Famous photographers for their blog and then their blog no longer exists, canceled by a non-renewal of the website. Before being a photographer, I did the most diverse jobs, I had several professional souls and if you allow me I found photography as profession and I don't intend to abandon it.
Even if I have an open mind and I am not even afraid of the idea of changing again as long as there is no need and it suits me I remain a photographer, with all the passion.
