About the essence of my work as a portrait photographer

What truly defines photography?

Is it merely the act of capturing images through a camera lens, or does it extend beyond the confines of the medium? Is it the embodiment of an abstract idea, a unique concept, a distinct visual language that serves as our means of communication?

I never understood all the rhetoric of the portrait and all that emphasis that accompanies it. As if we were facing another place, an offshoot of photography that who knows what it will give life to.

And what does it give life to in the end? To a photograph, in fact.

And this is. From here it starts.

Efrem Raimondi

Negative/Positive. My brother.

Contrary to popular belief, I find myself to be exceptionally receptive to creativity. Boundaries and regulations do not confine me; my realm is one where ingenuity flourishes. The paramount concern for me lies in the quality of the proposition, irrespective of the route undertaken to convey it.

My pursuit revolves around a specific aesthetic and a particular perspective – a vantage point that I wish to convey. It is about communicating, reaching out to others through the visual narrative I craft.

Allow me to share with you a glimpse of my portrait photography, meticulously curated to captivate your senses and evoke emotion. Each frame is a testament to my artistic journey, a journey that has led me to seize the essence of individuals and immortalize their unique personas.

As you immerse yourself in this visual gallery, you will witness the interplay of light and shadow, the raw authenticity of expressions, and the delicate dance between subject and surroundings. These portraits encapsulate the stories of those who stood before my lens, frozen in a moment that whispers secrets and emotions.

Whether it's the subtle curve of a smile, the intensity of a gaze, or the quiet vulnerability that emanates from each portrait, my work seeks to unravel the layers of human experience, inviting you to delve deeper into the realm of emotion and connection.

In this collection, I invite you to explore the harmony between technical prowess and artistic vision. Each photograph is a canvas where my subjects paint their narratives, and I, the humble conduit, capture their essence for eternity.

Party.

Let these images speak to you, transcending words and reaching into the core of your being. As you journey through this visual tapestry, remember that every photograph is not just an image, but a fragment of a greater narrative – a testament to the power of visual storytelling and the profound beauty that lies within us all.

Welcome to my world of portrait photography, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary, and every click of the shutter unlocks a universe of emotions.

Feel free to explore, be inspired, and let these portraits resonate with your soul. If you're captivated by what you see and wish to embark on a visual journey together, I eagerly await the opportunity to create and collaborate. Together, we can transcend the realm of the ordinary and embark on an artistic odyssey that knows no bounds.

Lejila book

In creating composites by disarming the images and recomposing them, I offer them a different level of reading, creating a different dimension that reverberates in the attention of the observer. From a purely creative point of view it becomes stimulating and having created a book offering unstructured display planes has allowed me to propose something more stimulating and creative, a different and profoundly artistic book.

As a portrait professional, I offer a creative kaleidoscope able to personalize each proposal, avoiding standardization.

I'm not interested in focusing on producing purely aesthetic results and this despite the fact that most of the time I find myself having to work in a classic situation of photographer per client. When the girls come to my studio I talk to them a bit, I try to get to know them a bit to get to a point where I won't limit myself to a question of photogenic and formal aspects. Photography should always express a point of view, even in the case of a set born only for commercial purposes.

And these are the girls who come to me the first to know. I work with a 35mm in a tiny room. And I only work with natural light.

I never pose girls. What I show is always the result of a time spent together, talking a lot and photographing from time to time, when I see something that looks like photography to me. Even when they undress, remaining completely naked, this happens naturally. I stay in the room when they do, but don't think it's rude. Everything happens naturally and for this reason I insist a lot on the importance, for me, for my way of photographing, of reducing everything to the essentials, almost making us forget the presence of a camera between me and the girl.

What remains must still be an essence. An essence of the girl portrayed, of me in that moment, of the moment itself and it is important to be able to bring out the atmosphere, to make palpable what it was and what I felt in that passage of time. I usually shoot very little, and that's always a good thing. When I find myself shooting excessively it's because something is wrong. I learned over time to handle the most diverse situations. Most of the time everything seems easy to me. Situations certainly happen where you want to be anywhere except photographing a certain person. I consider myself lucky to say that this has only happened three times so far.

I also think the kind of photography I do with girls is completely different than you would expect. At least it seems to me seeing the work of other photographers that I also respect a lot. My photos are totally imperfect, but I think it is precisely from this imperfection that the interest I arouse in some girls who ask to be portrayed by me arises. However, I never compromise on one thing: even with nude photographs I always avoid vulgarity. That is something I abhor and take pleasure in not possessing naturally. Making vulgar photos in a certain type of photography, erotic photography in particular, is very easy. In fact, I think it's much easier to fall into the vernacular with erotic photography than with nude photography.

One thing I also avoid with all my might is that kind of photography with no artistic flair. I don't like making the classic book, that someone can't get away from it even when busy with personal photography, let alone ... but in fact I believe that my clients come to me because they know what they want, and this makes my job a lot easier.

Lia Amore is the girl you see portrayed in these photos. I remember the set being particularly playful. A 40-minute one-on-one conversation where the results have led us to something I'm happy with. Here I propose, among other things, three photos that are certainly not even the best of the entire set.
