ALEX COGHE’S STREET PHOTOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHTS FEBRUARY 2026

An interesting month. Let’s see my selection for you.

THE PHOTOS

To shoot with the manual lens Albinar 28mm on my Canon 5D is one of the most similar experiences to shoot film with a digital camera I ever made. I like that, how I previsualized and I love even the details burned into this image.

This photo has a visual rhythm. It's only right that it be in this selection.

My observation of a working day in Mexico City.

Sometimes I'm drawn into a scene by a simple gesture, but also by shapes I see that create tension. This is an example. It's not a photo that winks at you. And that's precisely why it's more personal and interesting, from my point of view.

Speaking of shapes, I often snap when I see angles. I think the angle within the frame is a valid reason to shoot regardless of the subject. And if the subject is also present, even better. Like in this case. There's that light that divinely kisses the woman and is quite fashionable. A little cinematic. A little challenging the rules.

Here, this is a cheeky photo. Quite a nice one. Shadows. Blur. Composition. I almost look like a normal photographer on this one.

Tension. Rhythm. Close-up. Layers. Sunglasses. The ability to pre-visualize and choose the exact moment to shoot.

It is a moment, in some way. There is something in this photograph. I still don’t know, but there is something.

Well, if they asked me to do this for an art gallery, I would call it KARAOKE.

To conclude this selection, a photo that is an act of rebellion against those who think street photography should only cater to certain subjects. I do my thing on the street. I do myself. And I photograph what's interesting, in the best way possible, in my opinion. For me Stephen Shore and Luigi Ghirri are street photographers. Street Photography is about the experience of the street photographer on the street and nobody is going to say me what I can do and what I can’t do. I use Street Photography as a training method and way to improve as a photographer. I make a lot of different kinds of photography: Sport, Fashion, Documentary, Conceptual. That is why some street photographers don’t accept me. Read my lips: I DON’T CARE.

THOUGHTS

Who I am and what I do on the street is my business. My photography is real. I see now a lot of over-processed images that lack of authenticity. I remain the same photographer, improving constantly, in the awareness that my priority is making my own thing. My photos are imperfect, natural, organic, they don’t appear fake.

Anothe rimportant thing to me is consistency. I want to see a cohernce in my vision and I think to achieve that. There are the important things to me. Art directors see this and recognize the value of my work. That is the most important thing. I am not into photography to win awards and festivals.

It was an interesting month.
