An inspired street photographer 7

With a photo from my recent trip in Oaxaca

Oaxaca - 2021

This is probably the best street photo I took in Oaxaca in the few days I was this year.

And thanks for taking the wrong turn. In fact, this year there were very few houses available when we booked, with hotels and B & Bs that sold out. So the only solution was a B&B in the suburbs. Yes, guys, I found myself in a popular neighborhood.

Santa Lucia del Camino is a very quiet barrio, just 3 km east of the state capital city of Oaxaca, within the Oaxaca metropolitan area. But this already makes it a different place with different dynamics. As you know I am used to work in the barrios and it was not that different from Progreso Nacional, a neighborhood where I am used to go when I am in Mexico City.

When I saw the scene I took it. One shot, what you see and that for me has a good composition and a good time. It says a lot about a family and a everyday routine. The eye contact of the cyclist adds involvement of the observer to the scene.

Doing street photography in Oaxaca is a major challenge. You have to rethink your approach in many cases. You will never get certain big city aesthetics but you can still find a unique way of interpreting the reality in front of you like a street photographer.
