Film photography is primarily a state of mind
I go out with my Canon Rebel and with the Olympus Stylus. In recent months I have shown how much even with an old DSLR you can take the photograph you want.
In the last period, in particular, I have seen how many of you are appreciating my work on the street. Thanks to the YouTube channel I can show almost immediately the work of a day. And a different way of putting myself on instagram is marking the change of pace. But going beyond the strategies of presenting myself, is the mere photographic work that makes the difference. And my decision to back to work with DSLR cameras, and in particular, with the Canon Rebel T3 and T7 is turning out to be the right choice.
Going beyond fashions and market impositions. Going against the now widespread idea that mirrorless are the best solution when it comes to street photography. And by showing that I am using the limitations of a DSLR to my advantage, I have actually come to get my own aesthetic that allows the photography I do to be appreciated above all by many street photographers who have some experience.
And in fact today my photography comes out fresher and at the same time more in line with what has always been my aesthetic goal with digital: obtaining a more organic photography and, even if digital, with a filmic flavor. If this I have in a certain way almost always obtained with all the digital cameras that I have owned, by virtue of a more natural approach, for example preferring the jpg, I realized, comparing the jpg of Fujifilm with those of the Canon that the first brand has a more lacquered and therefore more digital rendering. And that the myth that many have about Fujifilm jpgs is exactly a myth, as widespread as fads are. I don't mind sounding unpopular with so many street photographers: that's what I think.
I am not an ambassador for Canon. Nor do I care to be. After my experience as an ambassador for Fujifilm today I am not very interested in putting myself in another burden of that kind. Through this blog I share what my ideas are. And I do it as a free man and photographer, free from conditioning.
