Nice try but street photography is much better than the stuff you want to pass off as relevant

On twitter

This was my reply:

These are the kind of photos why street photography a genre vilified by many. To think these visual jokes are any relevant is putting street photography in the shame wall of photography. Fortunately, this is not true street photography.

And they:

Disagree. These are NOT easy shots. a Narrative , Humour & another redone you'd miss it. Flashing as random Passers by that a camera on a tripod can remotely do, Street festival shots might be "interesting" but the guy next step away can take the same thing.

Me:

I am happy to disagree with you if you consider relevant this kind of photography. I am pretty sure many are with me.

Visual jokes are talking of the photographer and not the world around us. It is something that reduce street photography to a sort of game. And I think for many is preferable this way, being Saturday afternoon photographers, white collar the rest of the week.

Do we really have to still see smoke "coming out" of a head? And thinking this is a great content image? What the shit is this? No, seriously, I argue street photography is more important than photojournalism righ now, but I am not referring to this crap, of course.
