Olympus Stylus Infinity + Kodak 200

I am back to use my super trusted point & shoot 35mm camera

I had the Canon 7 rangefinder occupied with the fomapan, so I decided to put a roll of color film in my Olympus Stylus Infinity, a camera that has been my trusted point & shoot for many years.

While it doesn't give me all the control I have with my Japanese Leica, it's still a pleasant experience. I think I was able to take some shots that are worth sharing here with you.

A little side note

For me, shooting with film or digital makes little difference. While the experience certainly changes and this is the reason why I continue to shoot with film, for both in my case it is a matter of following only my vision, my authorial interest and, therefore, being able to maintain a basic coherence in the entire proposal.

There is no experience superior to another. There are pros and cons to each. Just as you have to take into account how with digital you can obtain certain results that are not possible with film and vice versa.

In digital the result is certainly more precise and controllable: this makes it indispensable for certain works. Film is a personal pleasure and a challenge. I feel that with each roll I come out enriched (a little less so my wallet but that's it) and gives me a certain pride to achieve to make certain photos with film. For example with this point & shot I can’t control anything, I just press the shutter button, but with the rangefinder I have to work without using the light meter and applying the Sunny 16 rule. Any shot is a win.

In digital I have achieved a very broad experience that allows me to obtain images aesthetically similar to film. To those who wonder what the point is in trying to replicate the aesthetics of film in digital, I answer: photography was born on film and everything that really matters to me in photography, what I like I mean, has an imperfect aesthetic, if in color with certain dominants, if in black and white with a seductive grain, all characteristics of film photography. For me, the photographic language must maintain a basic imperfection to continue to be seductive.
