Qualsiasità (anythingness) in Mexico

Thoughts and a photo

EDOMEX, 2023. Alex Coghe

My idea of landscape is social. A strong attribute that leads me to see the landscape in front of me as a reflection on the human condition and this regardless of whether there are humans or not.

The curiosity that drives me to look for places that don't necessarily have to be beautiful in the orthodox sense and that for this very reason offer me a reflection on myself and on those who observe the places I photograph.

During these years of living my daily life as a photographer, I realize that I have shifted my photographic approach towards anythingness, by virtue of clear visual influences that today form part of my DNA as an author. A further stimulus is that of the war against the stereotype which I feel is a real mission. Too much Mexico has been scaled a certain way. I studied books that led me to a profound reflection on how to propose my photography. I have set out on a difficult path, sometimes frustrating, but which responds to my feelings and above all truly respects the country where I live.
