Street Photography has room for our presence
I have never thought that there is a constraint to be respected for street photography. I think I really like this about being a street photographer, an anarchist soul who pushes creativity and fun.
I take this photo for example. When I saw the clothing of the two, the girl with the leotard over the shirt, the guy with the shirt of my favorite hip hop singer of all time, I couldn't help but snap. I called the photo so much that in the end they give me a smile.
There is nothing wrong with that. I am there thanks to the eye contact and their smile. You, observers of the image, are also there. I don't have to and I don't want to be subject to any rules on what a street photograph should be like. I don't usually ask for permission to take a picture, but neither do I hide the fact that I have a camera and take a picture. As I said several times here, Street Photography is more the experience than a photographic genre. I'm simply someone who does street photography, finds pleasure in doing it and does it by capturing spontaneous moments. Who comes to tell me that these smiles are not spontaneous?
