Street Photography in a neighborhood for the rich

Polanco is a neighborhood of Mexico City, belonging to the Miguel Hidalgo delegation. In Polanco there is Mazarik Ave., considered one of the richest streets in the world, because there you find the stores of Fendi, Rolex, Ferragamo, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and all the most known brands of luxury. In yesterday's photos I tried to tell you about it.

In Polanco I did a work commissioned by Burberry: you can see some images by clicking here.

In photographing I wanted to give a sense of the place. There are places of dolce vita with outdoor tables. The experience of photographing there is certainly different but pleasant and interesting, I can focus more on the composition even if I always prefer the instinctive shot. Photographing with the manual lens requires me to change the setting with almost every shot.

When I find myself photographing here I always think of the prestigious work created by Anthony Hernandez and which generated the publication of Rodeo Drive book, a model to which one can certainly think of being inspired by a more dedicated work here. Polanco is really a great location to make photography and in fact in my masterclass an experience in this district is always included.

Polanco is certainly interesting for its architecture, modern and at the same time bohemian. You are constantly aware of being in a nice place in the city. In Mazarik Ave. some buildings with balconies at the corners of a square are reminiscent of the Italian style. Polanco is also an area where there is a deeply rooted community of Jews, there is a synagogue and it is common to meet men in Orthodox clothes.

Unlike other places for the rich, however, Polanco preserves a soul. You can find a lot of street food places at the corner of the street. This is a place where there are many offices and this helps to make life vibrant in the streets, which are always very crowded. Although they are not my usual places to take pictures from time to time I like to go to Polanco.

I hope you enjoyed this little trip with me.
