Street Photography in Tepito

Tepito is a barrio located in Colonia Morelos in the Cuauhtémoc borough of Mexico City. It is not a place where is recommended to go with your camera, especially to make street photography. But yesterday I did it. And this is the result:

To photograph in a part of Tepito is in any case a challenge, especially using a street photography approach. I think you know what I mean. All over these years I worked and still work in tough neighborhoods. Tepito is otherwise called Barrio Bravo to suggest that it is not safe.

I knew where I was and was particularly alert but also determined to take some pictures. And anyway I did my job remaining calm. This I believe affects body language and has not exposed me to problems although I cannot hide the fact that I am a foreigner. Because there is still this extra difficulty in not being a native, being there and making photos. My experience in shooting in barrios made the rest.
