Street Shooter Ken Gray
BIOGRAPHY
I have been street shooting since 1977 after a visit to a Garry Winogrand exhibit. It shook my world and I have had the itch ever since.

Street photography is the surreal seen in the common events
Q) When were you first attracted to street photography and how did you discover it?
I first started street shooting after a visit to a Garry Winogrand exhibit
Q) Black and white or color? And why?
I shoot both B&W and color based on the lighting and the scene
Q) What is more important in a street photo: content or form? Or do you believe both are important?
The balance of content and form is what makes a good photo
Q) Who are your favorite photographers?
Garry Winogrand, Elliott Erwitt, Saul Leiter
Q) How instinctive is your photography and how planned is it? Do you work a scene?
Most days I go out without a plan, but there are many days where I travel to a specific site to work the area
Q) Can you describe your typical day of street shooting?
I like to get an early start with morning light and walk the area to find the best angles and search for scenes that speak to me
Q) What about ethics when it comes to Street Photography?
We each have our own set of morals when shooting strangers. I smile and shoot quickly and only stop to talk when the curious want to know my intentions, which I share with them.
