THE BARRIO is the new exciting private workshop available

Street & Urban Photography Workshop in the North of Mexico City with me

Over the years, my way of working in the city has become increasingly simple. I walk. I observe. I wait. I photograph when something makes sense, not when something looks spectacular. And i don’t shoot only downtown or the easy places. My neighborhood and the surrounding ones are fantastic locations for a truly different kind of street and urban landscape photography.

Here in THE BARRIO I realized my 3 years work AMERICANA that made the first personal exhibition in Mexico City in 2020.

THE BARRIO was born from this approach.

It’s a two day, one to one street and urban photography workshop developed around the residential areas where I live and work in the north of Mexico City. Everyday neighborhoods, ordinary streets, and spaces where life unfolds quietly.

This workshop is not built around famous locations or predefined routes. Everybody is giving workshops in Downtown. This workshop is built around the act of being present in a place and learning how to read it before photographing it.

A way of working

Street photography and urban landscape are often treated as separate genres. In my work, they naturally overlap.

In THE BARRIO, we work on observation, timing, composition, and the relationship between people and space. We slow things down. We walk without shooting. We learn to recognize when an image is worth making and when it isn’t.

Part of the workshop happens on the streets, working in real situations.
Another part happens at my home, where we take the time to look at images, talk about editing, and discuss choices.

This balance between action and reflection is intentional.

Structure of the workshop

The workshop is fully one to one and runs over two full days.

Each day is divided between shooting sessions and in depth image review. Lunches are included and shared, creating space for informal conversation around photography, personal work, and long term direction.

Everything is adapted to the participant’s level, interests, and way of working. also the locations will be chosen depending what I think is right for the photographer who is participating to this unique experience.

Who this workshop is for

THE BARRIO is for photographers who want to strengthen their relationship with the city.

For those interested in street photography that goes beyond reaction.
For those who see urban space as an active element in their images.
For photographers who value clarity, coherence, and a solid working method.
