Video: Olympus Pen EP5 also in 2025?
While there will be changes in my equipment with disposals and new acquisitions, my Olympus Pen EP5 will be with me also this year on the street
For both black and white and color, my camera with a Micro Four Thirds sensor delivers brilliant results. Compact and perfect for my hand, it also leaves something to the eye with its retro design. I do not underestimate the design aspect: we use more the products we like to see, this is without a doubt and is also valid for us photographers. A camera is not just an instrument, it is a pleasure. something we offer to us as a gift.
With the Pancake lens 14mm f2.5 becomes a perfect set-up for street photography. There will be other cameras with me soon, but the Olympus Pen is here to stay.
As I explain on the video, I kept the photos alsmost as out of the camera. That is the native JPG set as vivid. The cool thing is that I don’t need to make any recipe or a particular preset in lightroom. In Lightroom I add a little bit of contrast, sometimes I can recover the highlights, but that is really anything.
Look at these colors. That is the magic of a superior color science: Olympus is well known for this. I didn't choose Olympus by chance more than a year ago, going back to the origins in a certain sense.
Hey, guys let me clarify a thing: with this post I don’t want to convince anyone to make the same choice. That is just me. I say this because I want to avoid another time some critics against micro four thirds after a post published on this blog. I am aware MFT is not for anyone. Although I think the comment about the poor image quality of the micro four thirds is unfair. Probably someone was doing something wrong when using it.
If I can, I'll get rid of the APS-C format instead. I am aware that brands have focused a lot on that format and the reason is to reduce production costs, even if all this is not reflected in certain policies in putting so many different frame formats on the market, for example. And it does not seem to me that this market choice has ever been in favor of users given that the prices are often absurd. They are selling a lot of plastic and amateur gear with luxury prices. But we will have time to talk about this.
My idea is going towards MFT, Full frame and a good film camera. Those arguing that MFT is dead will get a great surprise this year. Anyway, guys, I hope you enjoy this new post. Let me know your thoughts.
