ALEX STREET PHOTOGRAPHY - SELECTION 2026

This is not an award.

There is no jury.
There is no voting process.
There is no compromise.

This is a personal selection.

Every image will be seen and judged by me alone. I take full responsibility for every choice. No filters, no committees, no safe decisions. Just my eye, my experience, and my understanding of street photography after more than 15 years working in the field as a photographer, editor, and educator.

Most submissions will fail.

That’s the point.

2025 WINNERS

1 PLACE - PIER CARLO BEVIONE

Despite many tend to forget street photography is about a documentation of a moment. Here I see something happening, and anyone is involved by this. A great moment and an immediate winner of this award this year.

2 PLACE EX AEQUO - DEBORAH SWAIN

Oh, I can relate to this photo and the moment captured. The subjects are connected through gestures and composition.

2 PLACE EX AEQUO - KIMBERLY KELLER

To look for emotions and convey them through our photography is something I always promoted. And this photograph respects this fundamental aspect.

3 PLACE - ALIREZA JAHANGIRI

The most graphic photo in this selection of winning photos responds to a minimalist composition that however works for impact.

2024 WINNERS

1 PLACE: GIUSEPPE CAGNETTA

Different layers in a shot where the details make the difference, the richness of perfectly set elements make this photograph the winner of this year's edition of the awards. I wanted to reward the skill in giving us a photo that has at least 3 photographs inside.

2 PLACE: THE BLACKMAN ARMED WITH A CAMERA

Start getting used to it because these awards are different and do not speak the same language as festivals and other awards dedicated to street photography. Street photography should stop being seen as a type of photography dedicated only to pleasant things, to formally captivating photographs, in short, those photos that receive applause on Instagram. Do we consider Boogie a street photographer or no? If I decided to award this photograph it is because I believe it is a very good photograph. In addition to this, I want to define my awards, so that they reflect my ideas on street photography which can be an opportunity to describe the street in all its facets. The street is a place where everything exists, from funny situations to tragedies. It seems to me that in recent years everything is cloaked in cloying do-goodism. This photograph derserves this space here.

3 PLACE: PETER SUSSEX

Third post for a photograph that refers to different times of street photography, let's say pre-explosion of the genre. That's why I'm awarding it here. For this award they asked me several times what it is that I'm looking for. The answer is simple: good photography that does not respond to prevailing trends and certain tricks that allow the same ones to win and always make them win. I want real new people who propose their own vision. The good thing to make an award like this is exactly that I am not responding to anyone and there is anot a pool of judges: it is just alex street selecting the winners independently and with intellectual honesty to reward only the photo.

2023 FIRST EDITION WINNERS

1 PLACE: PAVEL GOLOVKIN

A photograph that plays with layers and makes you enter the scene. There is a dynamism offered by the continuum of kids which allows for perception of the moment captured by the photographer. The figure of the mother who walks with the child is masterfully set in a natural framework This is a great photo!

2 PLACE: ERIC DAVIDOVE

Funny moment masterfully caught. The division of the frame in two makes the photo even more enjoyable, almost as if they were two frames to underline the different actions of the subjects.

3 PLACE: EDDY VERLOES

Landscape photography and human documentation meet in this photograph sublimating the vision of a beautiful scene that counts with good dynamism.
