12 MONTHS, 12 PHOTOS COLLECTED BY ALEX COGHE

I picked up 12 photos, 1 per month from the last year.

Somehow these photos are all important to me for some particular reason that I want to share here with you. This is a different selection from the best street photographs already proposed here. I think to make justice of my vision that can’t be constrained in a definition or photography genre.

JANUARY

That "Las Flores y la Muerte" defines this photo that lives on so much symbolism. Once again the theme of death recurs in one of my photographs. And it makes it in a subtle way.

FEBRUARY

Oh, I love so much this portrait because it is pure urban culture. Realized with my Canon 5D, I am particularly pride with the result. It shows exactly who I am as a photographer: living the streets for real, connected with the community, offering the sense of identity through the metropolis exploration.

MARCH

A very simple photoshoot made in March that given me this cool portrait. It is perfectly unperfect. And so I wanted it. It feels just like my idea of fashion photography.

APRIL

The melancholy of the month of April brought me a little poetry. I photographed the entire month only black and white. Vivian, our cat, left us and I think this was reflected in my sorrowful look.

MAY

This year film has made a strong comeback in my photography experience, especially thanks to the purchase of my “Leica”, which is a Canon model 7 with a Russian lens. All this fits perfectly with my visual proposal.

JUNE

Juergen Teller is currently one of my favorite photographers. If only for the way he's hated by so many photographers. But obviously it's not just that. I believe the combination of fashion and conceptual art is part of my photographic proposal and vision.

JULY

I'll say it bluntly: Trump is my enemy. I believe he's currently one of the most miserable beings in the world. And when I saw this scene, I couldn't help but snap it: I found a way to photographically express it to the entire world.

AUGUST

My way of narrating the superb design of the Soumaya Museum in Polanco is through the 80mm focal length, black and white and reducing it to a minimalist frame. That was a good way to test the lens just purchased, I think.

SEPTEMBER

Of an intimate gesture, captured in public. Another imperfect photo that I absolutely love.

OCTOBER

October was the month I was busy with the Day of the Dead celebrations, with the intention of launching a fantastic workshop this year. I love this photo for the way I handled the light and the speed control.

NOVEMBER

Yes, a self-portrait. With my rangefinder. I absolutely love how this shot turned out. It really looks like an old photograph. I think is one of the best photos of me ever seen. And I made it, so I think is a bonus.

DECEMBER

This is a photo much more in line with what we are used to seeing when we think of street photography today. Yes, I can make them too. And here's the proof. A photograph with a good visual rhythm.

CONCLUSIONS

2025 was a truly positive year for me. I gained so much from the experience I gained, and I see it as a worthwhile investment for the future.

The changes in equipment were necessary for the photographer I am today. All choices were carefully considered and motivated by my professional goals, but without following the market's dictates; in fact, I'd say they went completely against the grain.

I can now see very clearly everything I want to achieve. I distance myself even more from everything others do to move directly towards my photography and my way of seeing the world.
