About to leave for Oaxaca
The bag is ready. Tomorrow afternoon I will finally be in Oaxaca. My photographic expedition begins.
I will stay 5 days there, documenting the day of the dead celebrations.
Because of pandemic there will be some restrictions as I have already been able to verify but we already count the arrival of many people from all over the world. Hotels and airbnb structures are sold out in most cases.
This year will be the first time since 2015 that I will go without students. For the first time in the days of dia de muertos in Oaxaca I will be able to concentrate on my work and only on that. I am very excited about that because I have a strong motivation to document and show what this ancient celebration of the Mexican people is.
I don't even have to carry cameras of a certain brand. I got rid of a cumbersome ballast that ended up determining my creative choices as well. So now I'm going to Oaxaca for dia de muertos to photograph. And I will do it with the fake Leica (forgive me but the brand with the f no longer deserves to be named by me if not to sell my cameras) that I will use in combination with the 25mm f1.8 by 7Artisans and the Canon Rebel T3 with the Yongnuo 50mm f1.8. Decision that goes towards something a little wide angle but that will be fine for what I want to do.
My work will be proposed to the agencies. They write me this morning sending me this message:
Guau! Tendremos la suerte de ver una cobertura espectacular sobre el tema!!
In bocca al lupo, Augurio y que lo disfrutes mucho!
I will work also with the focus on 2022, because the next year I am sure we will back to have participants to the classic photo expedition. And now I have only one thing to add:
I am going to Oaxaca, guys!!!
