ALEX COGHE PHOTOGRAPHY HIGHLIGHTS OCTOBER 2026

A healthy breath of fresh air

THE PHOTOS

THOUGHTS

Although not all the photos here were taken with the Fujifilm X100T—and some in this month’s selection were, in fact, captured in October a few years back (though they still align with my current vision)—the arrival of the Fuji has allowed me to return to shooting using zone focusing. For me, this translates into a complete gain in freedom when I’m out on the street shooting. And that carries significant implications: it might seem like a small detail, but being able to photograph in a way that’s closer to the experience of using film—without having to contend with the inevitable lag of autofocus—is a tremendous form of freedom, one that allows me to shoot better and achieve superior results.

While my approach to photography doesn't involve an obsessive drive for perfection, I do believe that feeling at ease, and thus being able to work in the best possible way, allows me to focus entirely on the framing when I’m out on the street. And so, I find myself returning to a certain style of street photography that feels truly my own, an experience of shooting that I embrace completely, and it therefore feels natural to return, with both purpose and awareness, to black and white.
