Highlights December 2024
A busy month but giving me several interesting photos
The selection starts in the barrio. With an interesting composition, offering the sense of the place, a photograph built a la Guidi, in the sense of landscape photography that I like to see.
What is street photography if doesn’t show the street activities? The urban and the dance, the way guys fill the street and occupy the public space. OK, I think I explained why the photo deserves to be here.
This photo could be taken of the eye, because in the end that eye summarizes the reason for my shot. Even if there is much more, and then you can understand how everything can arise from a detail and still cause a frame that makes sense with so many elements (and information) embedded inside.
Who said Winogrand? Well, I read about the idea to reinvent street photography…but is there a need to reinvent? For me, no, for me it's always that stuff between Winogrand and Bresson with everything that happens in between. What the fuck do you want to reinvent? Isn't the world enough for you and what it offers us to say?
Of kings, cowboys…I think metropolis is sufficient to make a distonic poem anytime.
Do you know that there are photographers supported by their husbands, so rich, and travel around the world? And that the same photographers then take pictures with a zoom lens and tell them on Instagram that they are surprised at how close they got to the subject when in reality they were very far away and the photo is worth nothing? It seems that in any case it is enough to fool some bored housewife who takes very expensive workshops with them. Snobbish stuff that does not interest us. We do the dirty work and do not even flagellate ourselves in a ghettoization of sexual gender.
Back to serious things: layers that make sense and also find a timeless moment. I like the kid expression here.
I'm thinking I'm going to be 50 this fucking year. The elf, this elf I found in an area not suitable for taking pictures alone, but this is what I do, risking a lot. Without bodyguards and without inventing the bitch mother. My street credibility is real.

Then someone even has the nerve to ask why I take pictures. Damn. The world is devastating in its brutal madness. Don't you see it too?
In this world we need more cowboys and fewer soldiers. We need adventure, not war. Soldiers pollute.

Not bad to end the year. A selection that inspired me some things to say here. Let me add: I am experiencing a lot of success recently. More than in the past, despite I did great in the past. People is not stupid and they can see what I am doing without special effects. That is just the pure photography made by a photographer that in few months will be a 50 years old, damn, photographer. I am getting old, and my experience is here to show a featured (a real one) photographer, with a real career as a professional photographer and being also good as street photographer that is something happening not that much. There are some sitting down. Usually the exploit of a street photographer lasts only 5 years then they disappear. Me, in 2011, I was imposing my form to be a photographer in Los Angeles downtown and immediately after I was working on the streets of Mexico, flashing people without being an asshole. I am the same photographer and I am quite different too. I am the perfect response to those arguing that a professional photographer is not enjoying to make photographer anymore. Yes, right…
