In the territory of Street Photography in Mexico
Even though it didn't have a definition from the beginning, Street Photography has always existed.
Yesterday a photographer with whom I spoke during a meeting in which I found myself by chance, and of which I will tell you shortly, said that in Mexico what is now called Street Photography was simply called VIDA CUOTIDIANA (Everyday Life) which in the end I think it's a great definition to place what we do as street photographers.
As my followers know I given a definition in 2012, published on my Street Photography Guide:
Street photography is, certainly, a snapshot of urban life observed in its daily facet and that includes all its aspects: irony, tragedy, unpredictability, cruelty and even beauty.
Which is finally what still relates me to taking pictures on the street. The particular strength of Mexico is precisely in this background, of life as it is documented with our cameras. Where Nacho Lopez is the precursor model who, although little known abroad, is here a giant. The photography that in the present and in the future is given by an observation of man and society is still there to be grasped by all of us.
I am convinced that Mexico (historically it has already done so) will play a leading role in photography and in particular that called street photography. I once again feel deeply compromised in this sense and I will work for this, not just as a photographer.
