Never more ambassador: 10 advices to myself
I am done with being ambassador for camera manufacturers. Freedom is more important. And then is never a regular relationship: the brands take more than you receive. Always.
- Cameras are my bitches
- I choose my lens and go just with that
- I don't buy gear, I buy books and prints
- I don't feel myself loyal to any camera manufacturer, I am loyal to my photography
- I choose cameras and lenses that help me to achieve my goals, and I don't listen marketing sirens
- Cameras are just tools, I am always the main actor
- Also in digital the goal is achieving the most organic result
- I don't shoot like others, I shoot who I am
- I don't trust technology, I believe in feeling
- I always pursue the truth, no matters how is hard
Even when I was an ambassador I always did a little bit as I wanted, advising against buying many lenses for example and telling those who listened to me to avoid thinking about always buying new cameras, rather than turning to older models, perhaps even preferring the used one. And the reviews have always been honest too, extolling when there was to be exalted but not hiding the negative. Uncomfortable also as an ambassador, then. Because brands do not think in terms of honesty but always and only in terms of turnover.
And I am writing this in public because I don’t think to back to be an ambassador anymore. I will accept of course assignments but always in a business relationship as a photographer working for a client.
My followers and my photography thanks. Freedom has no price. And for me they ended up with absurd fucking requests.
