Sexual City (2014): NSFW content

2014 was a good year, very profitable, full of photos and projects. Sexual City was certainly a project inspired by Japanese photography and that of Nobuyoshi Araki and Daido Moriyama in particular.

Starting from this sentence by Moriyama, I set out to explore the suburbs of Mexico City. The city where I live has allowed me to show a nature that only some people have the access and understanding to see. My black and white that period was devoid of scale and compromise. This collection remains a unique cross-section in many ways compared to my usual photography but this was in 2014.

Alex Coghe is an Italian editorial and documentary photographer based in Mexico City. His work explores contemporary life, culture, and human presence through documentary photography and portraiture. His images have appeared in international publications, reflecting an approach centered on authenticity, atmosphere, and visual storytelling. Alongside his photographic work, he also leads workshops and masterclasses focused on photographic narrative and observation.
