Street Photography Highlights - March 2025

A PECULIAR MONTH

This month I started to work with my 35mm rangefinder camera, the Canon model 7. The first roll, a Kodak Gold, that I used in Coyoacan made me test the camera and something good is worth to share here, like this first image of the month selection: as a street photographer I don’t pursue to make all the same and staying in the fences. Street Photography to me is the experience to be on the street with my camera. For the rest it is my photography. And in my photography I make the rules. No one comes to tell me what to photograph and what not to photograph.

The second image, from the same roll. Photographing under an overpass. Metropolitan look and cut. A really interesting light here.

I'm trying to re-educate my vision. At 24mm you take and must take different photos. At this point the border is only with myself. But I have no borders.

I was in the metro, altogether with Carmen, the woman who modelled for me this month. And I could not resist to this scene.

I think that is a magical street corner in the city. There is a lot of information going on this photo. It is downtown and yet with a barrio flavor.

I was able to capture the mystery in this frame. I managed to make a composition that is simply good. Happy of this.

I go off the beaten path to find these things. I take risks, yes, but so far it's been worth it.

You know that I hate color match photos. And in fact I include it here as a provocation, not thinking really is from the best of this month. Color hierarchy resspected in this image, a typical street shot. But yawn…

Trio juxtaposition. Dynamic. I shot really close. Basically on the woman's face. I was at 16mm (24mm equivalent). I was in EDOMEX too, and that should add points to my street courage.

Layers. There will be more shots like that in future.

Thoughts

A difficult month from the personal point of view. Complicated because of highs and downs. The change of camera for my street photography. A month full of many different things. My back to film photography. Finally I have my “Leica”. The awareness of imposing my point of view and an approach that no longer depends on any external dynamics. March has been an important month, even of fracture with respect to certain things of the past. I'm excited about what I'll be offering from now on.
