Street Photography Tip 4
With this tip I want to introduce two important factors that we can meet making street photography: I am talking about WABI SABI and SERENDIPITY.
Wabi-sabi (侘寂) is the view or thought of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It is about the aesthetic of things in existence, that are “imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete”. In a more complete meaning delareas the acceptance of an imperfection that work perfectly. In the case of this photo there are, of course, imperfections but they can be accepted because the image works.
Serendipity refers to the occurrence and development of events by chance in a happy or beneficial way. When I decided to stop myself because of the artwork I expected a little there in order to have the interesting subject allowing me to have a good picture. This is called “to work the scene” from street photographers. When I photographed I just wanted a subject in the right position and posture/gesture. I didn’t expect when I have seen the image at the computer to see a Mickey Mouse! That’s it. The Street Photography experience reveals itself in some many ways and different moments, from the shot to the work in post production. And maybe also after this, sometimes.
