The Jurassic and the Meyerowitz moment
A photo taken in the last days of 2021. The Street Photography that I propose.
Congratulations! Your image is in the STRKNG Editors' Selection today!
This morning I read again this message on my inbox. I am happy because I did it with an image like that.
For this occasion I want to coin a neologism: Meyerowitz moment. The Meyerowitz moment is, in my idea, all that I have learned to observe through certain images of the master of Street Photography. A moment captured, without intervention by the photographer, able to capture a surreal and fun aspect, in which there is a connection within the image between the various elements present. Someone will argue that this is the heritage of street photography and of many street photographers and, certainly, not only of Joel Meyerowitz. I agree, but but I also think that a certain mood and a particular aesthetic are recognizable and related to what the master calls GASP moment.
According to Joel Meyerowitz: When something-anything, makes you GASP
STOP
The photograph comes from the GASP
This is what happened to Cyril Abad when Meyerowitz was signing a book to him. Too bad now GASP collective is not active anymore, but that philosophy moment from Joel Meyerowitz remains.
Today I am proposing you THE MEYEROWITZ MOMENT when there is a surreal and funny component inside the frame, something that will make you GASP.
