The Street Photographer Agenda Episode 25

From the weekend

Notes

Trying to make art with reality requires a lot of effort. You take risks for your own physical safety, without any claim or guarantee. While with journalism there is a preparatory work, if I go to certain places armed only with my camera to take spontaneous photos, without asking permission, the thing changes completely. Even simply photographing a parked car can become a problem in certain places. And in the center of Mexico City if you leave the first block you are already, inevitably, more exposed to these risks. Also Mexico City is misleading, the photos I take don't often allow you to understand how dangerous a place really is. everything seems normal and peaceful. Go and make it clear that I photograph in a street where prostitution and drug dealing are normal.

Is it worth doing? In my opinion, yes, it is worth. But the value of my work will be not immediate. And after all I'm not looking for immediate recognition but rather to feel good about what I do. And then...then there's the adrenaline rush of taking pictures in certain places. I just can't give up on that.
