TOPOGRAPHICA A Call for Photographers
TOPOGRAPHICA is a new editorial project devoted to those who continue to see the landscape not as spectacle, but as condition.
We are looking for photographers who recognize themselves in the legacy of the New Topographics: Photographs of a Man-Altered Landscape and who feel that its questions are still urgent today. The neutral gaze. The ordinary terrain. The human trace inscribed into geography.
Landscape photography, urban peripheries, metaphysical cityscapes, transitional spaces, anonymous architectures, industrial edges, silent infrastructures.
We are interested in work that observes rather than dramatizes. That measures rather than decorates. That understands the contemporary landscape as both physical and existential.
Our references move across the history of the New Topographics generation and extend toward a European sensitivity shaped by photographers such as Luigi Ghirri and Guido Guidi, whose work redefined the poetic potential of the everyday territory.
We also embrace the idea of qualsiasità, a concept introduced by Cesare Zavattini: the radical dignity of the ordinary. The belief that any fragment of reality, however marginal or overlooked, contains meaning when observed with attention and responsibility.
TOPOGRAPHICA is not nostalgia.
It is not imitation.
It is an attempt to reconsider how we describe the spaces we inhabit now.
First Open Call
We invite photographers to submit one cohesive project aligned with this vision.
• Maximum 10 images per project
• Low resolution files for this first selection phase
• Submissions must be sent exclusively through the form available on this post.
Selected works will be featured in the inaugural editorial release of TOPOGRAPHICA.
This is an invitation to look carefully.
To slow down.
To engage with the landscape as testimony.
The territory is never neutral.
Neither is the gaze.
First deadline is Aprill 30th
Use of Images and Publication Rights
By submitting to TOPOGRAPHICA, photographers retain full copyright of their work.
Selected images will be published exclusively within the electronic edition of TOPOGRAPHICA, distributed in PDF format via alexcoghe.com shop. The publication is editorial in nature and non-exclusive. Authors grant TOPOGRAPHICA the right to reproduce the selected images solely for:

No commercial resale of the images will be made outside the context of the magazine without prior written agreement from the author.
