When I go out to make my photography I prefer to count with a light bag, not conspicuous. While I am OK with the saying one camera, one lens to count with 2 cameras gives me the opportunity to have 2 different focal lenghts, just in case the situation requires it.
All over these years I changed my camera systems a lot. This is because I have always tried to accommodate the equipment I use to the photography I want to achieve and I have been quite restless, experimenting a lot and keeping myself away from my comfort zone. This I have been able to see that it has been effective and has allowed me to grow as a photographer and also in my experience with various cameras.
In a typical four-hour day in Downtown I travel about 15 kilometers. When I'm busy in a workshop I usually walk less. I still walk every day and in the neighborhoods near where I live I can cover distances of around 10/12 kilometers.Usually when I do that I am with my wife and we buy stuff for the house: this means that I still go out with at least one camera, but I need the convenience to carry other bags as well.
The camera bag for a photographer is essential in my opinion. But as a street photographer it must satisfy, at least for me, some requirements that are above all those of working in a comfortable and at the same time safe way.
Another important issue is to bring other things that are useful during the day. If it is very hot I must necessarily change the bag with one that has space for a water bottle.
As a street photographer I usually work with small and light cameras. That is why my choice right now went to the micro four thirds system, but I don't mind going out with my Rebel from time to time and, soon, with the purchase of the 40mm also with my Canon 5D. Of course, in that case, I have another camera bag with me.
