WOMAN. DOWNTOWN, LOS ANGELES 2011. FINE ART PRINT

$990.00

Probably my best known street photograph. A blog has included it in a selection dedicated to Henri Cartier-Bresson, mistakenly attributing it to the French master.

I realized this shot when busy to make a body of work to exhibit at Think Tank Galler in Los Angeles, California. I stayed there for three weeks. Each artist who participated was called to propose three photos to be exhibited in the gallery but under each photo the precise place on the map of where the photo had been taken had to be inserted.

Since I didn't know Los Angeles well and I didn't have GPS in my camera, I decided to organize my proposal as a project, using the same street corner and the same shop window, that of a Starbucks. So the three photos on display are similar but this has remained the most famous and the one I often use for promotional material or to introduce my vision and photographic approach.

If I use it often it is because for me this image is able to define the very essence of street photography. There is the reflection that allows me to show a documentation of the external world and the internal world, there is my reflected image, the urban context, the visual contact with a question mark as an expression. Influenced by the work of Lee Friedlander including myself inside the frame is part of the game.

This photograph has beeen already echibited in several galleries around the world.
