On the street and for the street

The wrong message that many street photographers, spoiled children and daddies, give is precisely about cameras.

They use Leica M6s or brand-new, super-expensive digital cameras.

Their narrative is heavily influenced by "coolness," and, in practice, they imply that street photography is done with those cameras.

But the very nature of street photography is the polar opposite of this mentality. Street photography can be done with any camera: film, digital, or smartphone. If anything, the oldest cameras should be pushed into the world of street photography.

Unfortunately, since the hipsters discovered street photography, it's become the cool hobby, the one they do after work, when they need to work. Because we see it: there are rich people, and there's also a phenomenon within street photography: women supported by rich husbands. They can afford to travel all over the world, take photographs everywhere, and even offer workshops for women in the same situation, as wealthy sponsors with cameras.

But real street isn't for the rich. And in the photographs this truth becomes manifest.
