Back to Basilica

Last year I avoided going when everyone went to the Basilica. A place where I photographed a lot and where at the beginning of this 2022 I wanted to return because I do it on foot, crossing several barrios in the north of the city.

The pandemic has changed many things, but this does not prevent the faithful from going to visit the Virgin of Guadalupe.

I am not a religious person, but I am fascinated by people's devotion and in fact I have dealt with it for many years through my work as a photojournalist. In the awareness of how important it is within the Mexican culture, I always approach the subject with the utmost respect. I don't just do it on the topical days of the year. In fact, I am interested in more normal days in which, however, I am surprised to find many people.
