I went back to black and white for a day and this is the result

My photography, and my street photography in particular, is now in color. But yesterday I wanted to change.

Photographing exclusively in jpg I set the camera in monochrome. The feeling is that of coming out with black and white film.

All the photos made with Canon EOS REBEL T3 with Canon EF-S 24mm f2.8.

The photos are practically straight out of the camera with a slight retouching in post production.

It was a refreshing experience. We must never forget the playful aspect of our photography. I thought it would be interesting to take a break and also share the results on this blog.

To make the photos in black and white I had to modify the general way I work in color. I also changed the settings of the monochrome characteristics of my Canon in the course of work until I reached a satisfactory black and white. Returning to black and white photography after a long time is not easy. At least it wasn't for me. Now I prefer color. But it is a big challenge in forcing myself to think again for black and white and this can only do well to stimulate attention while taking pictures.

If you are like me who have chosen a way of photographing, forcing yourself to do something like this can be regenerating. If you ask me I have now chosen color photography which allows me to express things that otherwise I cannot, so even if I don't mind the photos taken, I feel that I am missing something.

The street photography I took yesterday still embraces a bit of everything that was my boast in the past and in part it still is. The photographs of the photographs belong to a Japanese approach dear to me. I got some more poetic images for example with the bird that hovers in flight.

For those who think about the camera used: this old reflex has done its job, with dignity, and no, the new cameras don't have the exclusive right to get you a fine black and white.
