New camera arrived: Canon Rebel T7

As anticipated on this blog a new camera has been added to my equipment.

Canon Rebel T7/2000D

Canon Rebel T7

With this camera I have everything I need to run my business. Now I can count on digital equipment capable of satisfying all needs both as a street photographer and journalist and my engagements with commercial portrait services.

My equipment now counts with:

Canon Rebel T7, Canon Rebel T3 Lenses: Canon EFS 24mm, Yongnuo 50mm

FakeLeica XPro2 Lenses: 7Artisans 25mm, FakeLeica XF 50mm

That's all I need for my job. If I buy a camera in the future it will be just for a whim. For example a Leica or a Ricoh, something to count again with a compact.

Many would not have made my choice. Also consider that many assume the cameras they have and showing up with an entry level disqualifies you from among the reporters.

I don’t care.

I never cared what the others think. I covered events with a small Olympus Pen and a Panasonic Lumix LX3. It is not about the cameras, it is about the photographer and what he/she can do with a camera.

Before the Canon second camera was the FakeLeica T10, a camera with a fake pentaprism. What is the point to make cameras with a fake design? And what is the difference between a mirrorless like that and a DSLR? That was the crux of my reasoning. At least with a fake rangefinder I find the viewfinder on the left side of the camera body. And the XPro2 counts with an hybrid viewfinder allowing me to look through an optical viewfinder. Another reason is that I don't even understand full frames or overly reduced in dimension cameras when you put big heavy lenses. Now everywhere I go I can count with cameras that are light (Rebel T7 is even lighter that T3) and able to guarantee me good quality and ease of use. Let me explain: do you have idea how much is easy to work with the Canon Rebel system? Anything is based on doing the job, controlling few parameters and with bery few menu settings. They are cameras focused on photography, this needs to be clear: I don’t discuss the video aspect. I am not a video maker and for my videos with few pretensions at the moment I'm happy with the Akaso V50. If you look for cameras making videos I recommend other solutions with the same Canon, Panasonic and Sony cameras.

Another aspect that is no less important for me: with this change of my equipment now I save with super long-lasting batteries. With the two Canon I also use the same batteries.

For the past two months I have been working with a Canon Rebel T3: all this can be easily seen on this blog and also on my instagram. This choice has fostered a growing interest in my most recent work. I have not only been contacted by other photographers who appreciate what I am proposing, but also customers and potential new business partners. A student of mine recently told me: What a slap in the face you gave the brand that removed you from their ambassador program! You are really showing that it is the photographer that counts and certainly not the camera.

I don't even care about slapping someone. This is for myself. This is my photography and what my future projects are.

Guys, DSLR is not dead. I am an ambassador of this.
