Street Photographer state of mind
Such a great year I pushed myself in rough places, challenging my own comfort zone, leaving out old dynamics. By being out of a brand I am doing my own thing, without responding anymore to guidelines and rules. I purchased camera and lenses to respond only to my vision.
By no longer responding to market logic, it makes me see my vision more clearly.
The street photography I made this year looks different. Even if the approach that is always mine continues, the one you see in 15 years of activity, there is a different awareness that has led me to make different choices.
In living the city in a way that is the same as always but also profoundly new.
My Street Photographer state of mind pushed me to different places this year. And I've risked it several times. And I'm really happy to do it as a finally free photographer, after 6 years in which I had to use certain lenses or certain cameras. For a hundred dollars you can get a used camera, there is no need to buy new stuff. All the photos you see from the last few weeks are taken with a 2011 camera and I want many to understand that there is no need to buy the latest or expensive ones to make photography.
I go to neighborhoods that are considered dangerous. And I go alone. Just me and my camera. The risk is always there, but believe me, doing it knowing that I have a camera with me that does not cost me much and that I can easily buy gives me a different sense of security. And the sense of security, which should not be confused with being inexperienced and careless, is fundamental to this job.
Going on the street, especially in certain neighborhoods, without fear determines a body language that transmits to everyone, including criminals, that you are not doing anything wrong and that you are not a potential victim.
The Street Photographer state of mind also refers to the way in which I experience the city, the people who populate it, the various events, the energy present (and that not present), the ability to be really connected with the rhythm of the metropolis to present it through my photographs.
Yes, I feel today I am a more free photographer. 2021 was the scene of change in many ways for me. And even those things that some might have thought were negative immediately turned out to be the exact opposite. I took off a heavy weight.
My Photography thanks.
