The importance of Reality Remade today
Guys, watch this new video I published on the channel
Consider that I realized REALITY REMADE in 2011. And take in account that I used a technique that at that time was not popular. After that work I started to see people imitating me. And yet was not the same: because my work was born from an absolutely personal reflection, about a particular mindset as a stranger, looking people that I was sure not going to see again and from that though in fact the consideration of life and death, reflection on the speed of existence on earth.
That work is my manifesto in order to say: look, guys, through street vphotography we can deal with important topics. Especially today that we see how for many street photography is a sort of joke.
Mainstream street photography at festivals continues to reward stupid visual games. In practice, for these organizers, street is something for people who have time to waste and who are not capable of taking photographs of emotions and the human condition.
And in fact they remain free-time photographers, they are not really published photographers, at most some magazine that is a fanzine or little more.
THEY ARE NEVER HIRED BY BRANDS AND MAGAZINES. THEY ARE NOT PUBLISHED PHOTOGRAPHERS.
Watch out: the human reflection with illuminated eyes is now all the rage, which is what the chicken with laser vision was a few years ago.
REALITY REMADE continues to represent me because it shows as with street photography we can say important things. And even if it can certainly arise from a particular state of mind and from feelings that we feel in that given moment it is absolutely not only addressed to ourselves, in a sort of egotistical and exhibitionist desire to present oneself but rather telling about others because we are truly interested in social aspects.
My photography is ignored by the soup industry mainstream and I am honored of this. I don’t have anything to share with these sellers of nothing. Because the need to tell oneself doesn't mean constantly looking in the mirror like these public masturbators do. They act with photography like in a continous selfie, and in fact we can see how they are not genuinely interested to others. They don’t love people.
Through Reality Remade and this video shows it, it is evident also that you don’t need to act as an asshole even when you use a flash. This work has been appreciated, featured, copied. I made it in a time when I was not an expert photographer like today I am. In some ways I was ahead of that time in certain photographic approaches. Proof of that is that REALITY REMADE looks today a completely fresh work despite it is 13 years old.
