A Sunday of street photography in Downtown

Finally I am able to share a selection of the photos made on Sunday.

On Sunday I was with my wife in Downtown. She is addicted to books so we stopped in various markets and even a fair. When I photograph and I am with my wife, my photography will inevitably be influenced. It is not how photographing alone. And I don't mean neither good nor bad, just… different. We crossed several places like Lagunilla, Tepito…

Questions come frequently on the street. What do I show today? What kind of energy do I feel? How does the heat affect the movement on the street? How does it affect the photography I make? What portrait of the human being will I be able to present? How to present the life of the markets? How is to photograph in a new place? How close will I photograph and how will the click of the camera affect the experience? What is my contribute to the cause of street photography? What will we eat?

La Lagunilla is an intense place to photograph. it reminds me of Fashion district in Los Angeles. But as Carmen rightly reminds me it is rather Los Angeles reminiscent of Mexico City. Tepito is always Tepito. And just some years ago I never thought of photographing there with my no-asking approach.

When we arrive in the historic center we are already quite tired and yet I take the best photo of the day there:

That's what street photography is for me.

A moment where the gestures make the photograph. Where humanity is represented with a particular coincidence of moments that, united within the frame, reveal. And street photography is also when you don't think about taking a photo that you really like, maybe when you are already thinking about going home, when you feel empty, here it is.

This is what is extraordinary about this experience called Street Photography.
